Our Story

Built by Barbers, for Barbers

The story of Iron & Oak starts with a straight razor and a stubborn refusal to cut corners.

Est. 2018

How Iron & Oak Started

Marcus Cole spent 8 years cutting hair in Denver shops that treated barbering like an assembly line -- 15-minute cuts, no conversation, no craft. In 2018 he moved to Durango with one barber chair, a box of straight razors, and a vision for what a barbershop should feel like.

He found a space on Main Ave with exposed brick and original hardwood floors. He bolted in three vintage Koken chairs, hung his grandfather's barber license on the wall, and opened the doors. Word spread fast.

A barbershop should be a place where a man feels better walking out than walking in. Not just the hair -- everything.

What We Hold To

Standards That Don't Move

Three things we will never compromise on, no matter who walks in or how busy the chair gets.

5-Year Minimum

Every barber in this chair has at least five years of full-time experience. We apprentice the old way — watching, practicing, earning the right to hold the blade.

Hot Towel Standard

Every service — every cut, every shave — ends with a hot towel wrap, neck cleanup, and product application. No exceptions, no shortcuts.

Walk-Ins Welcome

We hold three chairs open every day for walk-ins. No app, no reservation, no wait list — just sit down and we'll be with you shortly.

Come See What the Fuss Is About

Walk-ins welcome Tuesday through Saturday. 742 Main Ave, Durango, CO.
