About Apex Biotech
120 researchers. Two coasts. One mission: make precision medicine accessible.
Our Story
In 2018, Dr. Lena Park, Dr. Michael Torres, and Dr. Raj Patel left their positions at the Salk Institute with a shared frustration: genomic sequencing was too slow, too expensive, and too error-prone for the precision medicine revolution it was supposed to enable.
They founded Apex Biotech in a 900-square-foot wet lab in La Jolla. Within two years, their microfluidic sequencing platform had attracted $42M in Series A funding and partnerships with three top-20 pharmaceutical companies. Today, Apex operates two research campuses and has processed over 3.2 million genomes.

We never sacrifice data quality for throughput. Every result is validated against orthogonal methods before delivery.
We publish our methods, share our reference panels, and contribute to open-source bioinformatics tools.
Every platform decision is evaluated against a simple question: will this help a patient?
We partner with pharmaceutical companies, academic medical centers, and biotech startups.
