Wild River Expeditions

Your Adventure Starts Here

Guided rafting, hiking, fishing, and backcountry expeditions in the San Juan Mountains. Expert guides, unforgettable experiences.

Wild Runs in Our Blood

Wild River Expeditions was born on the banks of the Animas River. Founder Jake Tanner spent a decade guiding commercially before starting his own outfit — one built on safety, respect for the wilderness, and the belief that everyone deserves to feel the rush of a Class III rapid or the silence of an alpine meadow. We run small groups, maintain impeccable equipment, and hire guides who know these mountains like their own backyards. Every trip is an invitation to see Durango the way it was meant to be seen — from the river, the trail, and the ridgeline.

What Adventurers Say

Our family did the half-day rafting trip and it was the highlight of our entire Colorado vacation. The guides were professional, funny, and made our 10-year-old feel completely safe.

Visitors from Texas

Jake guided our backcountry fishing trip to a lake I never would have found on my own. Caught the biggest cutthroat of my life. Already booked again for next summer.

I was nervous about the Class IV rapids but our guide talked me through every move. By the end I was paddling hard and screaming with joy. Absolutely unforgettable.
