Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about physical therapy, insurance, and what to expect at your first visit.

Do I need a doctor's referral to see a physical therapist?

Colorado is a direct access state, which means you can see a physical therapist without a physician referral for an initial evaluation and up to 14 days of treatment. After that, a referral may be required depending on your insurance plan. We recommend calling your insurance to confirm your specific benefits.

What insurance plans do you accept?

We accept most major insurance plans including Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, Tricare, and many more. We also offer competitive self-pay rates and can discuss payment plans. Call our office and we'll verify your benefits before your first visit.

How long is a typical physical therapy session?

At Restore PT, each session is one full hour with your dedicated therapist — no aides, no splitting your time. Your initial evaluation typically runs 75-90 minutes to allow for a comprehensive assessment.

How many visits will I need?

This varies significantly by condition and individual. After your evaluation, your therapist will give you a projected plan including estimated visit frequency and total duration. Most orthopedic conditions resolve with 6-12 visits over 4-8 weeks. Complex post-surgical or neurological cases may require longer programs.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring your insurance card and photo ID, any referral or prescription from your physician, imaging results or reports (X-rays, MRI) if you have them, a list of current medications, and comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being treated.
