Our Story

A Building Reborn

From train depot to celebration destination — a century of Durango history.

Est. 2019

From Rail to Revelry

The Grand Depot building was constructed in 1922 as a Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad freight depot. For 70 years it served as the economic heart of Durango's shipping industry before falling dormant in the 1990s.

In 2019, a $4.2 million restoration preserved the original brick, steel beams, and arched windows while adding modern infrastructure for events. We opened in early 2020 and have since hosted over 500 celebrations.

What We Believe

Architecture First

We let the building be the star. Our design philosophy is restraint — enhance what exists, don't compete with it.

Full-Service, Not Full-Control

We guide, suggest, and coordinate. But it's your event. We empower your vision, never impose ours.

Community Investment

We donate venue time to five Durango nonprofits each year and host the annual Durango Arts Gala at cost.

See It for Yourself

Private tours available Monday through Friday. We'd love to show you the space.
